The Hurting
The Hurting
She looked up
But she couldn't find the way out
She cried
But she couldn't shout
She wanted to love
But she loved the wrong things
She tried to put something real
In her life
By putting poison
In her veins
She wanted shelter
Shelter from the driving rain
When she closes her eyes
She will dream
She will dream of warmth from the cold
She dreams of silver and gold
She can’t hide
She can’t hide from the burning rain
She tries to hide
Hide from the pain
She looks with sad eyes…she looks with sad eyes
At a reflection in her dark window
She tries to appease her guilt and shame
When the storm clouds open up
She will suffer…suffer again
Her soul is drowning
And it stains her arm
With the hurting…the hurting desire
She will go to sleep
She will sleep tonight
But the lights don’t burn
In her eyes anymore
In the morning
The sun will refuse to rise
When she wakes
Everything will be dark
She will sleep
She will sleep tonight
And she’s cold
She feels so old
Nothing she does
Will stop the pain
Tonight
She will sleep
Tonight
She will sleep
